TRANS-PLANTAR® TRANS-VER-SAL® Westwood-Squibb Salicylic Acid Plantar Wart Therapy Verrucae Therapy
Indications and Clinical Uses:
Indications
Trans-Plantar: For the treatment of plantar warts.
Trans-Ver-Sal: For the treatment of common wart infections.
Contraindications: Should not be used by patients with diabetes or impaired blood circulation unless directed by physician. Do not use on moles, birthmarks, uro-genital warts and warts with hair. It is contraindicated for patients with a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients. Warnings in Clinical States: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. The pads should be trimmed so as not to come in contact with normal skin surrounding warts. Treatment should be discontinued if excessive irritation of surrounding skin occurs. Do not use on irritated skin or on any area that is infected or reddened. If symptoms persist, consult a physician.
Adverse Reactions: Localized irritation will occur if salicylic acid comes in contact with normal skin. If this occurs the irritation should be allowed to subside by temporarily discontinuing treatment. Upon resuming treatment, trim the pads to contact wart tissue only.
Dosage and Administration: The pads are applied once each day before retiring. When necessary, the wart should first be gently cleared of debris with the emery file provided, taking care to avoid contact with healthy skin. Do not file to the point where bleeding occurs. The wart should then be moistened with warm water using a cotton tipped applicator.
The pad is then removed from the clear strip, trimmed to size (if necessary), and applied to the wart with the occlusive top film facing up. The pad is then secured with the adhesive strip provided.
The pad should be left in place overnight and discarded in the morning. This procedure is repeated daily until wart resolution is complete. Generally, visible clinical improvement will occur during the first 2 to 4 weeks of treatment. Complete resolution may be expected after 6 to 12 weeks. As the wart is diminishing it is important that the pad be trimmed accordingly to avoid contact with normal skin.
