Dietary Supplement

Indications And Clinical Uses: As a multivitamin dietary supplement and for iron deficiency anemia.

Contra-Indications: Hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia.

Precautions: Oral iron preparations may aggravate existing peptic ulcer, regional enteritis and ulcerative colitis. Iron compounds taken orally can impair the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics. Antacids given concomitantly with iron compounds decrease iron absorption.

Adverse Reactions: Rarely, in iron-sensitive patients, mild gastrointestinal upsets may occur.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Overdose: Symptoms and Treatment: Symptomatic.

Dosage: 15 mL 3 times daily before meals.

Availability And Storage: Maltlevol: Each 45 mL (maximum daily dose) contains: vitamin A 5 000 IU, vitamin D 400 IU, vitamin E 25 IU, vitamin B1 2 mg, riboflavin 2 mg, vitamin B6 1.5 mg, niacinamide 10 mg, iron 108 mg as ferric ammonium citrate in a dark brown, opaque, viscous sherry wine base with malt taste. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, caramel color, citric acid, flavors, paraben, polysorbate, pure malt extract, simethicone emulsion, sodium alginate, sodium benzoate, sucrose and tocopherols. Sodium hydroxide to adjust pH. pH: 5.4 to 5.6. Alcohol: 15%. Energy: 41 kJ (9.8 kcal)/5 mL.

Maltlevol-12: Each 45 mL (maximum daily dose) contains: vitamin B12 14 g, vitamin A 6 000 IU, vitamin B1, 4.5 mg, riboflavin 3 mg, vitamin B6 3 mg, niacinamide 30 mg, vitamin D 400 IU, vitamin E 25 IU, iron 108 mg as ferric ammonium citrate in a caramel brown, translucent, sweet base of sherry wine. Nonmedicinal ingredients: alcohol, caramel color, citric acid, flavors, parabens, polysorbate, simethicone emulsion, sodium cyclamate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, sorbitol, sucrose and tocopherol. Sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid to adjust pH. pH: 4.4 to 4.6. Alcohol: 16%. Energy: 32.76 kJ (7.8 kcal)/5 mL. Sodium:
